The foodproof^® Beer Screening Kit for Roche LightCycler^® real-time PCR instruments (1.x, 2.0, and 480II) enables breweries to perform the rapid and specific qualitative detection of up to 29 bacteria relevant for beer spoilage. The kit is supplied ready to use, including all reagents necessary for the amplification and detection of DNA of the most relevant beer spoilage bacteria of the genera Lactobacillus, Pediococcus, Pectinatus and Megasphaera. In addition, a subsequent melting curve analysis can be performed without extra costs by simply re-heating the finished reaction for 15 minutes, facilitating the unequivocal identification of the most troublesome spoilage bacteria Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus lindneri, Pediococcus damnosus, Pediococcus inopinatus, and Megasphaera cerevisiae.

Real-time PCR technology does not require molecular biological skills and minimizes the risk of cross-contamination linked with classical microbiology. Moreover, for effortless sample preparation we offer a convenient sample preparation kit. The easy-to-use foodproof^® ShortPrep III kit allows for quick and efficient bacteria DNA extraction after a short 1-2 days enrichment period using any of the standard nutrient broths (e.g. MRS, NBB, etc).
